Finally writing this review after using the laptop for almost a month.Much earlier had gotten myself the 3060variant with ryzen7 octacore costing around 98k,was impressed by the overall aspects of Nitro series (value for money)& got this one for my dad last month, but had enough time to test it thoroughly myself too, for gaming, thermals, etc and stuffjust to write this review. To begin with, this laptop is a beast at this price segmenti.e, below 68kas of 20/02/2022The Ryzen 5 version of “this” laptop has better iGPU,apart from the processor difference, but lacks Thunderbolt 4 port, which is the only key difference they have,i.e,get the intel variant if u want an option to plug in eGPUs later down the line or even display output via thunderbolt -> display cableor get the ryzen version,if none of the above matters to ya just for the tad bit better processing speed & better iGPU for non dedicated gpu stuff.Coming to thermals,I don’t know why some are complaining about it,I haven’t faced a single throttle without ne tweak, even on high performance mode& balanced toobut if u r living in a very warm place& if any system overheats,i would suggestjust go to power management,(right click on the battery symbol to get thr),advance power options, set max processor limit to 99%,& gpu power usage to Moderate power savings,it should solve ur throttling issues if any.Now coming to the horde of bad reviews due to a faulty charger,IT’S NOT FAULTY AT ALL,YOU JUST NEED TO CLIP IT IN TWICE on the nitro 5 models (see in the video)its a locking mechanism for the charging port.Cons,as some might have addressed, theirs a keyboard rgb red light flickering issue right at the startup, (also in the video)which apparently can be cured via bios updates as they have been releasing bios updates for the same, but to no avail as of yet.its not that much noticable, considering it just flickers for 4-5second only once during the startupbut goes to being normal, once done. The biggest con, that i could say would bewe need to void the warranty by damaging a warranty seal to access the ram/nvme slot.i.e, no separate upgrade bay have been provided.it’s all beneath one casing from the backside, while one of the screws(center),it covered by a very thin & delicate “Warranty void if tampered” label, which is so delicate, that it scratches even via hair dryer method with immense care.Slots:2ram slotssupporting3200MHzone is filled with a samsung 3200MHz 8gb (1Rx8) on the 8gb variant,+A 2 nvme slots,of which again one is filled, via a 256gb kingston nvme that has read speeds of 2400& write speed of 1800with an additional replaceable 1tb 7200rpm hdd too.Verdict,Get a renewed piece at much lower price if available, considering most of the people just return it by the sheer misunderstanding of the charging port,So if luck is in your way,you could get a brand new piece at much lower price,IF NOT,its a steal of a dealeven at 68kits a great value for money beast of a device,+ no risk of getting tampered stuff+ no hassle fo going through returns if that’s the case.If u can go higher though, surely go for 3060 editions, the upgrade is well worth toojust make sure to check on the processoras theirs a variant of Asus TufBook selling at around 82-84k with 3060,but it has a 4cores processor, which isn’t recommended worth the price difference, but if u can afford the extra bucks to get 3060 atleast with a 6core processor,if not 8cores,surely jump the ship.

it’s just a minor upgrade over AN515-57i think the only upgrade was in the intel 12 gen processor and you won’t even feel hardly difference between 12500H and 11400H (1140H was in previous gen acer Nitro 5)the rtx 3050 GPU is same as in previous gen.TBH previous gen acer nitro 5 (AN515-57) IS VALUE FOR MONEY.

Thermal throttling even when web browsing, expected cinebench23 score was 14000 but got 10000. CPU almost all the time at 100°C sadly the return window expired before I could return. The warranty also started a month early on the website thinking it was a returned product. Fps in games much less then a 73k laptop. Hats off to Acer service. They just can’t seem to understand my issue so won’t fix it . Now I have to keep it until it becomes a paper weight since it will die early due cpu overheating. Even changing thermal paste by Acer service guy didn’t solve the issue since there is almost 1 to 2mm gap in between the die and heatsink. And had to reapply it after realizing the crazy temperatures. My 7 yr old Lenovo y50-70 still turbos to 3 ghz and temps never go above 75°C .

After a lot of research comapring others models 12 gen F15s from ASUS G76 from MSI, 11th gen Legions and other AMDs with 3050s, 3060s with different buzz of TGPs, I finally make one conclusion is money makes prior important. So thus Elon Musk buys Twitter (as how much money need to spend only rtional to performance). And boys I am not regretting !!! you say about FPS I say about it just train an CNN in CIFAR10 dataset with 10 epochs in 4 mins GPU or 10 mins CPU time.Cons:Both RAM filled 8 GIGS/slot, so I want to upgrade it to 32 gigs which is a costlier choice.PS: I am a Data Scientist, not Gamers at all.

Screen Brightness and Sound quality is a little low but comparatively, the best. If I could get the accessories for nitro 5 it would be even better.

Only drawback is there are 2 slots of RAM and both have 8GB Sticks in them. If you want to upgrade to 32GB RAM, you need to change both the sticks to 16GB. They should have used a single 16GB Stick in one slot 🙁

Almost two weeks now since I bought this mini beast of a laptop. I bought crucial 3200mhz 8 gb ram and a 1tb ssd with this during the sale. After ram upgrade I am getting 60 plus fps in high and 100 plus in medium high settings. Thermals also good never crossed 80 degree in high gaming as well. I would advise to use some cooling pad which is bringing down the temps even lower by 5 degree. Only con is when I used the second ram the frequency is showing as 2933 mhz instead of 3200,this is a bios issue and many people are reporting this. I guess ACER would be working on this shortly. But yeah overall if you want a decent laptop under 70k, then go for this.
